THe Eiffel tower, the symbol of Paris was built in 1889 by gustave Eiffel, amid much controversy.
The tower was conceived as part of preparations for the World's Fair of 1889 and supposed to be taken apart after (Imagine the work
), but fortunatly it didn't happen. The 320 meters tower was the tallest buildings in the world at the time.
You can take a lift if your are lazy, to the very top of the tower, or if you feel energetic, you can climb some of the 1665 steps to the first or second floor. I recommend you to take the stairs, first you practise sports, second it's much more fun.
There are a very good restaurant, "Le Jules Vernes", One star Michelin's Guide, at the second floor.
On a clear day, you can have a panoramic and stunning view of Paris, and beyond.
Just front of the tower, you have "Le champs de mars", a kind of garden, where you can relax yourself after your exhausting climb (If you have chosen to be brave).
